The Cure - Boys Don't Cry Album

The Boys Don't Cry album is The Cure before they became Goth, new wave heroes and were just a trio of young guys who were turned off by commercial radio and longed to make something darker and more relevant. Highlights include the title track, about a broken-hearted man, and "Killing An Arab" the most recognized song on the album. Because of the title, the song was controversial upon its initial release. However, its lyrics were taken from "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. The only thing that makes it Middle Eastern is some minor harmonic melodies. This tune is The Cure at their best before all the punk adulation and the album is a welcome addition to any rock library.
