Paving the way for the alternative rap revolution, De La Soul has been a pioneer in sonic adventure and hippie attitude. De La Soul formed while the trio -- Posdnuos (born Kelvin Mercer), Trugoy the Dove (born David Jude Jolicoeur), and Pasemaster Mase (born Vincent Mason) -- were attending high school on Long Island, New York in the late '80s.
